Annexation Levy Appeal Restored  


Despite proposals to change the annexation law, municipalities' ability to annex survived the 2008 legislative session largely intact. The Senate and House of Representatives each introduced a bill limiting a municipality's ability to annex. However, the focus of the short session was on property tax reform, so proposed changes to annexation law narrowly failed to pass both chambers. Annexation is expected to remain a hot-button issue in Indiana that will generate debate and continue to be a topic for future legislative sessions.
